Džeremijs Bentams (Jeremy Bentham, 1748.-1832.) – morālists, jurists. Savā ētikas teorijā Bentams reducēja rīcības motīvus uz baudu un ciešanām, bet par morāles kritēriju uzskatīja rīcības derīgumu (utilitārisms). Morālo varot matemātiski aprēķināt kā kādas rīcības rezultātā gūto baudu un ciešanu bilanci. Metafizisko un mehānistisko morāles izpratni Bentams papildināja ar ideju par privāto interešu apmierināšanu (t.s. egoisma princips) kā „vislielākās laimes“ ķīlu „vislielākajam skaitam cilvēku“ (t.s. altruisma princips). Noliegdams „dabisko reliģiju“, kas konstruējot Dieva izpratni pēc šīs pasaules monarhu analoģijas, Bentams aizstāvēja „individuālās atklāsmes reliģiju“. Galvenais darbs ir „Deontoloģija jeb zinātne par morāli“ (1834.). Izziņas teorijā bija nominālists. Pamatojoties uz Bentama atziņām, Buls vēlāk noformulēja t.s. „predikāta kvantifikācijas teoriju“.
